Riverside County Volunteer Firefighters

Protecting And Serving Riverside County For Over 100 Years

Who Are The Riverside County Volunteer Firefighters?

Residents become everyday heroes....

SO....Who are the Riverside County Volunteer Firefighters?

Short answer? They are everyday people just like the rest of us. Many of those who volunteer to be firefighters do it to simply give back to the communities they live and work in. From the age of 18 to 80 volunteers serve Riverside County and its contract cities in a host of ways. From Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), to Firefighters, the County of Riverside is never at a loss for those who wish to make their community a better and safer place to live, work in as well as raise a family.

Volunteer Firefighters have been around for HUNDREDS of years, from Benjamin Franklin to present day, Volunteer Firefighters have often served as the front line of protection for millions of residents, and still do so to this very day!

With the current state of budgets Nationwide, the need for Volunteers in our Country could not be greater than what it is now. Riverside County especially, is in desperate need for Volunteers in several of its departments and highly encourages residents to reach out and volunteer with their local Fire Department, Police, R.A.C.E.S. Unit, CERT TEAM(s), or Search & Rescue Team(s).

Currently the County of Riverside faces several budget shortfalls, and unfortunately will face the daunting, and always difficult task of layoffs, cut backs, and elimination of key safety personnel. This is where members of the community need to rise to the occasion.

As we all witnessed recently in Japan, with the 9.0 Earthquake, and the ensuing Tsunami, there was nothing that could be done by many of the local safety officials but standby, and watch as members of their very own teams lost everything, or themselves were affected by the disasters. In a time of such disasters one will forced to help each other, and this will require extensive training.

Residents from all walks of life are encouraged to volunteer at your local fire station. Go down today, and ask for an application on how you can become a volunteer firefighter with Riverside County. Call your local County Supervisor and ask them to help the Riverside County Volunteer Firefighters expand their ranks. Now it the time when we should be training and recruiting more volunteers to help our community to be prepared for an impending disaster, and not simply rely on our "status-quo"!

As the a member of the Office of Emergency Services stated recently in the Press-Enterprise "In 98% percent of all major disasters, CITIZENS will be the true first responders" (3/21/2011).

If you are a homemaker, realtor, manager, baker, EMT, dentist, teacher, construction worker, food service worker, retailer, lawyer, firefighter from another agency, politician, business owner, student, or banker you are welcome to join us!

Now is the time as community members, we must band together, obtain proper training, and give back to our fellow residents who in a time of a state of emergency, while all of our other emergency services are gone, or simply overwhelmed, we, the RESIDENTS of Riverside County,  will be called on to assist one another.
